Edmonton Marathon course 674.7 metres too long, Boston qualifying times in jeopardy
The 2026 Edmonton Marathon course was 674.7 metres too long after a Wellington Bridge detour was measured incorrectly. Race director Tom Keogh said organisers "did not deliver the standard participants deserved." Since Boston Marathon qualifying relies on official chip times, runners who missed cutoffs ran genuinely slower. Organisers are working with Athletics Canada to determine whether results can be recognised.
