Speed Art Museum returns 24 sacred objects to Southern Cheyenne and Arapaho communities

The Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Kentucky is repatriating 24 Native American objects — including a cradle board, a turtle amulet and beaded pouches — to Southern Cheyenne and Arapaho communities under NAGPRA, the 1990 US federal law governing returns of tribal cultural items. The museum calls them "sacred belongings," not artworks or artefacts. A physical transfer date has not been specified.
