Christie's and Sotheby's vie for US$60 million Herbert Lust Giacometti collection

Christie's and Sotheby's are competing to acquire the art holdings of New York collector Herbert Lust, valued at approximately US$60 million and rich in works by Alberto Giacometti, ARTnews reported on 19 August 2026. Lust assembled hundreds of Giacometti works over decades of friendship with the artist. Neither house has secured the collection.
