
Camilla Takes Over Queen Elizabeth's Racing Patronages as Royal Roles Are Redistributed
In 2024, Queen Camilla became Patron of York Racecourse and, with King Charles III, jointly took on Patron of the Jockey Club, the body governing many of Britain's historic racecourses. Both roles were held by Queen Elizabeth, who died in 2022. Royal patronages — formal affiliations where a family member lends name and visibility to an organization — numbered in the hundreds at her death. Their redistribution has been gradual.
