Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway appeared publicly for the first time since her June lung transplant, one day before her 53rd birthday on August 19, 2026. She had been diagnosed with chronic pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive lung disease, in 2018. The Norwegian Royal Court does not expect her to resume official duties for at least six months.
