Wiebes wins chaotic opening stage of Tour of Britain Women

Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) sprinted to victory on stage 1 of the 2026 Lloyds Tour of Britain Women, a 158.9km loop in Cockermouth, Cumbria. Chiara Consonni took second, Josie Nelson third. The finish was disordered rather than controlled, but Wiebes had the speed. She wears the leader's jersey in the five-day race (19–23 August). Stage 2 runs Clitheroe to Blackpool on Thursday.
