First trailer lands for McAvoy's directorial debut 'California Schemin''

The first trailer for James McAvoy's feature directorial debut California Schemin' premiered exclusively via The Hollywood Reporter on 19 August 2026. The film, based on Gavin Bain's autobiography about two Scottish rappers who conned the 1990s American hip-hop industry, reaches theatres on 9 October through Magenta Light Studios. McAvoy also plays record-label boss Anthony Reed.
