Grand slams agree to create first-ever player council to settle prize money row
The four grand slams have agreed to establish a formal Player Advisory Council, giving players a direct voice in how the majors operate for the first time. The Guardian reports the deal could be confirmed on Wednesday alongside the US Open prize money announcement, expected to top $100m (£74m). It follows an 18-month dispute: players want the slams' prize money share raised from roughly 15% of revenues to 22%, matching the ATP and WTA tours. Top-10 players boycotted media duties at the French Open in May. A Wimbledon boycott was called off after late talks. Another remains possible at Flushing Meadows if players are unhappy. The US Open starts on 30 August.
