Angélique Kidjo becomes first African musician on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Benin-born, five-time Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo received the 2,854th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on August 18, 2026, Billboard reported, making her the first African musician and first Black African honoured. The ceremony at 7011 Hollywood Boulevard was attended by Willem Dafoe, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr., Djimon Hounsou and Adekunle Gold.
