Poor Sleep After 50 Can Cut Nine Months From Working Life
A University of Turku study found that severely disrupted sleep or sleeping nine-plus hours nightly can remove up to nine months from working life expectancy after age 50. Drawing on two large Finnish cohort datasets — long-term health studies tracking groups over time — researchers found the sharpest losses among lower socioeconomic groups. They urged workplace sleep interventions, noting one in three UK workers chronically lacks sleep.
