Sunderland Empire cancelled Burlesque the Musical's Monday-to-Thursday performances on 18 August 2026, citing a virus affecting "several principal cast members." The show's press night was scrapped. The production said it was "bolstering the company with additional covers" and aims to resume on Friday. Only three performances had played before the shutdown.
