Players' union and world leagues threaten FIFA with legal action over new Club World Cup

FIFPRO, the global players' union, and the World Leagues Association, chaired by Premier League CEO Richard Masters, have threatened legal action against FIFA over its new 32-team Club World Cup, set for June 15–July 13, 2025. The groups argue FIFA added the tournament without consulting the leagues or players whose calendars it would upend. FIFA has since offered peace talks.
