Alibaba's HappyShrimp 1.0 entered beta on August 17, turning a single text prompt into a finished song with melody, lyrics, and vocals. Alibaba named Taihe Music Group as a co-creation partner but has not disclosed whether the arrangement covers recording licences. Rivals Suno and Udio face RIAA copyright suits filed in 2024 on behalf of Universal, Sony, and Warner.
