ABC sues FCC to halt early renewal of its eight broadcast licenses

ABC sued the FCC on 18 August 2026 in D.C. District Court, seeking a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to stop early renewal of its eight broadcast licenses. The network filed the applications "under protest" and calls the proceedings a free speech violation by the Trump administration. The proceedings also target The View and Disney's DEI policies. ABC has produced over 13,000 pages across 600-plus requests.
