Thousands Mourn Cambridge Professor Jason Arday in London

Roughly 30,000 people filled Trafalgar Square on August 17 to mourn Jason Arday, 41, a former Cambridge professor found dead August 14. He had resigned ten days earlier over what he called "relentless accusations" of plagiarism — passing off others' work as his own — and biography embellishment. Police call the death "unexpected" but not suspicious. Mourners blamed media coverage; a public-inquiry petition has topped 96,000 signatures.
