Werro runs 1:53.80, third-fastest ever, within half a second of 1983 world record
Audrey Werro's 1:53.80 this season is the third-fastest women's 800m in history, within 0.52 of Jarmila Kratochvilova's 1:53.28 world record from 1983 — among the oldest marks in track and field. Five women have broken 1:56 in 2026 alone, making the 43-year-old record genuinely vulnerable for the first time in decades.
