Paramount seeks $1.88 billion bond from merger opponents as $7 million-a-day ticking fee looms
Paramount filed federal court paperwork on 17 August 2026 seeking a roughly $1.88 billion bond from the 12 state attorneys general and the Writers Guild of America suing to block its $111 billion Warner Bros Discovery merger. The bond would cover a $7 million-per-day ticking fee Paramount owes WBD shareholders; by the 2 March trial start it could owe $1.3 billion. Judge Martínez-Olguín previously waived the bond requirement.
