Eight stolen Matisse prints recovered in São Paulo; five Portinari works still missing

Brazilian police recovered eight Matisse prints from the artist's 1947 book Jazz on 13 August, eight months after armed robbers took them from the Mário de Andrade Library in São Paulo. Valued at over US$190,000, they have been returned. Five Candido Portinari engravings from the same heist remain missing; the São Paulo State Public Security Secretariat said police suspect they may have been sold.
