Trustee invokes California 'slayer statute' to block Nick Reiner's access to $1.5 million trust

The trustee for Nick Reiner's $1.5 million trust has cited California's "slayer statute" — barring inheritance by anyone convicted of killing the deceased — as grounds to block funds for his defence. Reiner, 32, held without bail in Los Angeles County jail, pleaded not guilty to murdering his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, with special circumstances making the case death-penalty eligible. A trust hearing is set for 23 October (Variety, 17 August 2026).
