Eugenie's daughter Adelaide, fifteenth in line, holds no HRH under 1917 letters patent

Princess Eugenie announced on Instagram on 17 August 2026 that her daughter, born in Lisbon on 3 August, is named Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank. Adelaide is fifteenth in line to the throne. She holds no royal title: George V's 1917 letters patent restrict HRH status to the monarch's children and grandchildren in the male line. Eugenie, a sovereign's granddaughter, is not a working royal.
