Newcastle lock Usher signs three-year deal after rapid one-season rise

Newcastle Red Bulls lock Oscar Usher, 22, has signed a three-year contract extension through 2029. The Durham native arrived on a short-term trial, earned a permanent deal, then won the club's Young Player of the Year award in his first full professional season, 2025-26. Head coach Dan McFarland praised the second row's work ethic and desire to improve.
