Nick Reiner seeks $1.5 million from parents' trust to fund his murder defence

Nick Reiner, 32, is petitioning LA Superior Court for $1.5 million from a children's trust created by his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Singer in 1993, now worth over $1.6 million, to fund his defence against charges he murdered them in their Brentwood home on December 14, 2025. Reiner pleaded not guilty. He faces life without parole or the death penalty if convicted. A criminal hearing is set for September 15. Trustee Jodi Montgomery opposes the request, arguing Reiner declined a $558,000 payment at age 30 and is not entitled to funds until 35. Reiner filed a sworn declaration on August 13 stating he relied on trustees to administer the trust fairly.
