Prime Video builds a 'cinematic universe' around a dead singer, not a superhero

Prime Video is building a "Marília-verse" — a multi-project slate around Brazilian sertanejo singer Marília Mendonça, who died in a 2021 plane crash at 26. Amazon MGM Studios is producing a biopic film for 2027 and a documentary series, "Sentimento Louco," premiering 16 October 2026. The franchise template, normally applied to superhero properties, is here built around one real-life figure.
