Premier League's £2.14bn summer spend nearly matches Europe's other four major leagues combined

Premier League clubs spent £2.14bn in the summer 2026 transfer window — almost matching the £2.21bn combined outlay of Serie A (£780m), La Liga (£515m), the Bundesliga (£505m) and Ligue 1 (£412m). Chelsea led at £348m, Tottenham £228m. Eleven of 20 clubs broke their transfer record during 2026, including promoted Coventry, Hull and Ipswich.
