Branagh receives Edinburgh festival's inaugural Outstanding Contribution to Cinema award

The Edinburgh International Film Festival presented its first Outstanding Contribution to Cinema award to Kenneth Branagh on 17 August 2026 (Deadline). Festival director Paul Ridd handed the honour to Branagh, whose 40-year career began with his 1989 directorial debut Henry V, screened as part of the tribute. Branagh discussed the career on stage with The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw.
