Aged care report calls for lower asset test threshold

A government advisory group chaired by David Cunliffe wants higher funding for aged care and a lower asset test threshold — the point at which people must cover more of their own care costs. The 40-recommendation report also touches home equity and superannuitant income. Associate Health Minister Casey Costello flagged "major political considerations." The government has not yet responded.
