Sawyers takes long jump silver in Birmingham, one centimetre behind Iapichino

Jazmin Sawyers won women's long jump silver at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, finishing one centimetre behind gold medallist Larissa Iapichino of Italy. The BBC called it "one of the performances of the championship." Iapichino leads the 2026 world list at 7.20m; Sawyers is the Commonwealth champion.
