Doncaster's Jack Whaley wins US Amateur at Merion, first English champion since Fitzpatrick

Jack Whaley, a 22-year-old from Doncaster attending Florida State, beat world No. 23 Jay Leng Jr 4&3 in the US Amateur final at Merion. Whaley, ranked outside the top 90, trailed by two after the morning 18 before winning four straight holes. The victory — the first by an Englishman since Matt Fitzpatrick in 2013 — earns invites to the 2027 Masters, US Open, and The Open at St Andrews.
