Ugandan Feature "A Vineyard for a Lobster" Wins Top Locarno Open Doors Grant

Talemwa Pius's feature debut "A Vineyard for a Lobster" won a CHF 20,000 (roughly US$23,000) Open Doors Grant at the 2026 Locarno Film Festival. Produced by Emmanuel Gashumba of Gripmagic Uganda Limited, the works-in-progress project depicts a drought-struck Ugandan village hit by impossible overnight snow. The 2026 Open Doors edition focused on African cinema.
