Kingdom Hearts anime confirmed for Disney Channel and Disney+, with creator Nomura writing and designing characters

An original Kingdom Hearts anime series is in production for Disney Channel and Disney+, announced at D23 on 16 August 2026. Creator Tetsuya Nomura confirmed he is consulting with the scenario team and creating new character designs for the project. No plot, cast or release window has been announced. Square Enix's press release lists the title as "Kingdom Hearts" (working title).
