Van Rooyen faces MRO suspension after high hit concusses Aliir in 200th game
Melbourne's Jacob van Rooyen faces an MRO assessment after a mistimed spoil — a punch to break up a mark — struck Port Adelaide's Aliir Aliir high in the second term at Adelaide Oval. Aliir failed his HIA and was ruled out for the match, his 200th. Port coach Josh Carr said Aliir was "OK" but "a little bit flat and a bit quiet." The MRO will grade the contact and decide whether van Rooyen is suspended for Melbourne's run home to a top-four finish. The Demons won 20.12 (132) to 8.8 (56).
