Liebmann, 19, breaks 14:30 barrier to shatter 1500m freestyle world record

Johannes Liebmann, 19, clocked 14:26.79 in the men's 1500m freestyle at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris on 15 August 2026, becoming the first swimmer under 14:30. The German, winning his first international gold, took 3.88 seconds off Bobby Finke's 2024 Olympic record — the largest single drop since Grant Hackett in 2001.
