Liechtenstein reformed succession by family vote, not parliament

Liechtenstein's princely house announced on 15 August 2026 that it is moving to absolute primogeniture, ending Europe's last male-only throne succession. The change was made not by parliament but by amending the House Law — the princely family's internal rulebook — through a two-thirds majority of family members on 12 August. No legislature voted.
