Fiorini breaks women's marathon race walk world record by over nine minutes at European Championships

Italy's Sofia Fiorini set a women's marathon race walk world record at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, breaking the previous mark by more than nine minutes. Race walking records typically fall by seconds. Fiorini, 21, arrived as European leader after clocking 3:25:42 in Brasilia in April. She turns 22 on 19 August.
