Nigerian satire 'I Live in V.I.' wins Tabakalera-San Sebastian residency at Locarno Open Doors

Ugochukwu Azuya's Nigerian social-class satire 'I Live in V.I.,' produced by Olubunmi Ogunsola's Lagos-based Ensemble, has won the Tabakalera-San Sebastian Film Festival Residency Award at the 2026 Locarno Film Festival's Open Doors co-production platform, focused on African cinema. The film follows Florence, 23, who squats in an abandoned Lagos construction site while pretending to live in wealthy Victoria Island.
