'Star Wars: Starfighter' Breaks From the Skywalker Saga — First Live-Action Film Set Beyond the Family Storyline

Disney's D23 conference on 15 August 2026 debuted footage from 'Star Wars: Starfighter,' directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling as a pilot named Kade. The film is the first live-action Star Wars entry to abandon the Skywalker family storyline, set in a new corner of the galaxy at the furthest point in the franchise timeline. Release is set for 28 May 2027 (Deadline).
