Oswald Is Public Domain, but Disney Bets on Favreau Series Anyway

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit entered the public domain in 2023 — anyone can use the original character freely. Yet Disney has commissioned a three-part Disney+ miniseries from Jon Favreau, with Steve Martin, Amy Sedaris and Kathryn Hahn in the cast. First look was revealed at D23 in Anaheim. Premiere is set for February 2027.
