Disney orders Kingdom Hearts anime for Disney+ and Disney Channel

Disney has greenlit a Kingdom Hearts anime series for Disney+ and Disney Channel, announced at the D23 fan event in Anaheim on 15 August 2026. Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix's creative team are developing the show, which will tell an original story expanding the franchise's universe. No release window has been set. The franchise has sold over 39 million units worldwide.
