McConaughey's screen debut helped catch a fugitive murderer after 14 years on the run
McConaughey's first paid acting role was a 2 December 1992 'Unsolved Mysteries' reenactment. Viewers recognised fugitive Edward Harold Bell from the broadcast; the FBI and Panamanian police captured him in Panama City on 14 February 1993. Bell had fled after murdering Marine Larry Dean Dickens in Pasadena, Texas, in August 1978. He died in a Texas prison in 2019, Variety reports.
