Recording Academy to reconsider Asian pop Grammy category after artist pushback
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. said on August 14 the body will take criticism of its new Best Asian Pop Music Performance Grammy category "into deeper consideration" ahead of the 2027 awards. Mason said "numerous conversations" over two weeks found some Asian pop artists feel the category misrepresents their music. He did not specify possible changes. Online Grammy entry closes August 21. BTS withdrew their album 'Arirang' from consideration in late July, calling for music to be heard "rather than being divided by region or language."
