Norwegian appeal court keeps crown princess's son under house arrest pending conviction appeal

Norway's Borgarting Court of Appeal rejected Marius Borg Høiby's request for lighter detention on 13 August 2026, upholding Oslo District Court conditions that confine him to Skaugum, the royal estate, wearing an ankle bracelet until at least 7 September. Høiby, son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, appeals a four-year sentence for two counts of rape and assault. The prosecution stated the risk of recidivism had not been sufficiently reduced to consider release.
