Recording Academy races to rework Asian Pop Grammy category before October 12 voting

The Recording Academy is convening its full Board and Awards & Nominations Committee to advise on the new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category for the 2027 Grammys, Billboard reported on August 14. First-round voting begins October 12, with nominations November 16. Any structural changes must land before those dates to affect the 2027 cycle. BTS refused to submit recordings on July 29, protesting that one category lumps together K-pop, J-pop and C-pop.
