Mark Rydell, the Oscar-nominated director of On Golden Pond (1981), has died at 97. His daughter, Amy Rydell, confirmed the death to The Hollywood Reporter. Rydell passed away on Thursday at the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, California. On Golden Pond delivered Henry Fonda his only competitive Oscar and Katharine Hepburn her fourth and final Best Actress Academy Award.
