50m breaststroke world record holder Ramsay-Peaty finishes 20th in heats, misses European Championships semi-final

Adam Ramsay-Peaty, who set the 50m breaststroke world record of 25.95 in 2017, finished 20th in heats at the 2026 European Aquatics Championships in Paris — 27.34 seconds, 1.39 outside his record. Only the fastest 16 advanced. He told Swimmingworldmagazine.com: "It is so bad that I'm confused." Earlier in the meet he placed fifth in the 100m final.
