King Gizzard drop guitars for self-built modular synth on 28th album 'Alien Metal'

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard released 'Alien Metal' on August 14, 2026, through p(doom) Records — their 28th studio album and first in 14 months. The Melbourne sextet abandoned guitars entirely, building a Eurorack modular synthesizer large enough for all six members to play simultaneously. They nicknamed the rig 'Nathan' and began using it for rave shows in late 2024.
