Paglen's new book: digital images no longer represent — they classify and act on people

Trevor Paglen's 'How to See Like a Machine: Images After AI' (Verso Books, 2026) argues that computer vision and generative media have reshaped visual culture more than perspective or photography. Digital images, he writes, are no longer representations but operational interfaces serving corporate or state interests to classify and intervene in people's lives.
