Jimmy Rimmer dies at 78 — the goalkeeper who started Villa's European Cup final but lasted nine minutes
Jimmy Rimmer has died aged 78, Aston Villa and Manchester United have confirmed. He started every game of Villa's 1981-82 European Cup-winning run, the continent's premier club competition, now the Champions League. In the final against Bayern Munich, a neck injury forced him off after nine minutes. Replacement Nigel Spink kept the clean sheet in a 1-0 win.
