Two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas joins London City Lionesses

Two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas has signed for London City Lionesses, the WSL's newest top-flight club. Putellas, twice named the world's best player, moves to a side still establishing itself at the highest level. The 2026/27 WSL season expands to 14 teams, with Lionesses hosting Manchester United in the opening match across the weekend of 4–6 September.
