Billy Slater steps down as Queensland Maroons State of Origin coach

Billy Slater has stood down as Queensland Maroons head coach after five years, the QRL confirmed on 14 August 2026. Appointed in 2022, he won three of five State of Origin series, including a comeback road victory last year. NSW took the 2026 series. Slater says he has yet to agree any new deal. QRL is now seeking a replacement for 2027.
