Trump imposes up to 100% tariffs on drones one month after exempting manned aircraft parts
An August 13, 2026 presidential proclamation imposes 100 percent tariffs on thermal-camera drones, drones over 25 kg, and large UAS (unmanned aircraft system) parts, plus 25 percent on all other drones including sub-250-gram consumer models. One month earlier, the administration exempted commercial aircraft, jet engines, and aircraft parts entirely. Both actions invoke Section 232 national security authority.
